Why are the Fontignac products so heavy?

Fontignac products are made from the best cast iron in the world. Natural cast iron is heavy and there are many advantages to using enameled cast iron for your kitchen needs:

- The distribution of heat prevents combustion.

- Slow cooking at low temperatures intensifies the taste, retains heat for a long time and keeps the food warm from oven to the table.

A heavy lid retains moisture and aromatizes the inside of the casserole, to enhance the flavor of your dishes.
The bases do not deform and stay level, which helps to retain heat.
